Foster Home Regulations
These rules apply to all active foster homes in the Boot Hill Lifeline Rescue network.
Eligibility Criteria
- Foster applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- Applicant must live within a practical response area, generally within 75-100 miles of Dodge City.
- All adults in the home must agree to foster placement responsibilities.
- Landlord approval is required for renters before placement.
Home and Care Standards
- Provide secure indoor housing and climate-appropriate shelter at all times.
- Separate foster animals from resident pets during required decompression or medical quarantine windows.
- Follow feeding, medication, and handling instructions exactly as provided by rescue staff.
- Use approved collar, harness, and transport restraint protocols for every trip.
Communication and Compliance
- Report health, behavior, or safety concerns within 24 hours, or immediately in emergencies.
- Attend scheduled veterinary visits, adoption events, or transfer appointments as coordinated.
- No transfer, rehoming, or off-record placement is allowed without written rescue approval.
- Rescue staff may pause or end placements when safety, welfare, or policy standards are not met.
